Version: Early Access/BETA

Last update: Major Bug Fixes & QoL Update Now Live!

A legend returns. The cold Red Wood stand unnervingly silent… yet something stirs beneath the stillness. Has he come back to life? Is the hunter once thought lost now stalking these woods again? Brace yourself: the forest remembers every secret, and this time, nothing will stay buried.

Don't Stop in Red Wood: Chapter One recreates the feeling of survival horror with graphics inspired by the PS1 era, with the possibility of playing in fixed tank-style cameras and first-person camera. The game tries to follow an older graphic style with a mix of modern gameplay. The game contains hand-crafted cutscenes to give the story a more cinematic feel.

The game is available in the following languages:

 English

muy buen juego, con ganas de la segunda parte

Really fun horror experience. The music and sounds in this game go well with the PS1 style graphics making a really nice old school slasher feel. A little glitchy at times, but nothing that takes away from the fun story that unfolds.

great game! love how long chapter 1 is too. music, atmosphere, characters, its all a 10/10. absolute GEM of a game.

What a great game. I’m stoked for chapter 2. The music. The graphics. The controls. The vibe. The storyline. It’s all amazing. 10/10!

I can see that this was challenging to make, you got the horror elements right.  Timing was a bit off, many times too slow either in dialog or action.  I know it can be difficult, not being able to figure out how to naturally keep PCs out of certain areas at particular times, but the use of invisible barriers was a bit excessive and awkward - why can't I go there, I could a minute ago, what is stopping me, I feel led.  Also invisible barriers right on the roadside and trailside made the environment seem strict and unyielding, it felt unrealistic, I should have been able to travel off the road or trail a bit into the forest.  What also wasn't believable is having bodies strewn about with victim's personal items scattered, blood trails, evidence of dragging, abandoned running cars, and all kinds of other incriminating evidence, there is no way the police could miss all of that and not apprehend the perpetrator, long ago.  A true mass-murdering psychopath would keep everything in order, hidden and secret, so as not to ever be caught for their crimes.  Regardless, it was a very well made game and you are successful at taking ideas and causing them to come to life in a virtual world.

Absolutely amazing job! The game itself felt and looked great but what was even more intriguing to me was the fact it was developed in CopperCube! I switched over to unity awhile ago but I still remember starting my game dev journey with CopperCube. Great work!

Thank you very much for your comment! I'm very glad you liked it! It's also great to hear from another developer who has used CopperCube.

No problem!

muito punitivo nas perseguições!

Amazing! Really loved the animations and level of detail considering it's a PS1 style game.

Looking forward to chapter 2!

This game is a must play! 10/10

In my case, i cant see the last part of the game (Where the couple go to forest) because i have a file error... But the rest game is awesome!

Here is my gameplay (Spanish). Hope you enjoy it!

Had a lot of fun filming this. I did find a few bugs, but it's still worth playing. Can't wait for more!!!!!

Hi, I played your game — pure cinema. The storytelling, the visuals, the pacing… it all came together like a film I didn’t want to end. I can't wait for the second chapter!
(1 edit) (+1)

I played this through, and honestly the story and looks of the game are top notch! However, I did hit several game-breaking bugs while playing. I eventually gave up recording at 8 restarts trying to get it to work. I think overall it took over 10 tries to complete chapter 1.

Bug List (All bugs encountered on cinematic mode):

  • Resume button on pause menu doesn't work. So if you accidentally pause... you lose all progress.
  • Any bugs can ONLY be resolved by completely shutting the program down. A new game will not fix the issue (I assume this is because the models don't reload on new game, only on program open/initialization). I recommend reloading the models on new game as well.
  • I hit a tree by the gas station and part of the tree texture stuck to the screen and multiplied every scene change until it was hard to see.
  • I had models freeze several times--once with Amber, frozen in to running position (this resolved itself every time eventually), and several with the officer, who upon exiting at the gas station has no movement animation and just stands and glides.

Suggestions (not a big deal but might make for smoother playthrough):

  • Implement the space bar to skip dialogue when you're not talking with someone as well. Currently you can hold down space to skip dialogue when it's a two person conversation, but you just have to wait it out if your character is talking to themselves or in a cut scene.
  • Add the ability to skip cutscenes if desired. I understand why you might not think this is necessary, but if you have to replay the game upwards of 8 times to get it to work, it gets frustrating to not be able to skip all dialogue/cutscenes.
  • Consider adding a manual save. I know there's a save when there is a chase scene with Alder, which I GREATLY appreciated. However the ability to save would have been wonderful when I accidentally pressed escape and locked myself in the pause menu and couldn't resume.

Sorry if this seems too exhaustive, but I REALLY loved the story and the vibe of the game overall. I don't want to see bugs preventing people from enjoying those parts.

Thank you so much for this feedback! Your detailed report is incredibly valuable for both upcoming updates and the final release. I’ll do my very best to address every issue as quickly as possible.

This has been one of the most challenging games I’ve ever made, thanks to the new mechanics I introduced—and I appreciate you pointing out exactly where they’re not working as intended. Your thorough bug descriptions really help me improve the game!

I'm glad it didn't come across as being too critical! I was a little worried it would. But I really did love the story and overall style of the game so don't think I'm just knocking it with no positives lol.

I look forward to trying this out again once you've got some more bugfixes in place!

i really enjoyed this playthrough and the atmosphere and overall feel of the game.. my only issue was the controls.. but im ready and excited for Chapter 2! nice little story cant wait to see what Chapter 2 has in store.. Enjoy my Playthrough!

can u make it pay with credit card ? or put it in steam

Ran into a game breaking bug during the chase, the camera was stuck!

I chose exit and the game didn't have a save feature...

I don't plan on playing chapter 2 if the quality is the same as this...

Thanks for the feedback. I will fix the bug as soon as possible!

When the bug occurred, were you playing in fixed camera mode or first-person mode?

(+1)

It was on first-person, thanks.

Lov
Game was fire

Wonderful game that I had a a lot of fun in!  Here's hoping that somehow officer Rourke can come back in episode 2!   Excited to see more!

Amazing Amazing Game! I loved that you can change the prospective, I did both! Most of the game was 3rd person and the latter portion first person!

We Confused The Killer With That Good Ol’ Bait and Switch!

Unfortunately the game is unplayable for me. I keep running into invisible walls while driving, restarting helps but then I run into the same problem after leaving the gas station. My car hits an invisible wall and the car just won't move. It's like he didn't fill up at the gas station or something I guess. lol. Such a shame because the story seems fun.

Can't wait for Chapter Two!!

(Sorry for the repost. I shuffled things around on my channel.)

I really enjoyed this. The story, the atmosphere, the music. This whole game is amazing. I got lost after the whole house part but I figured it out. This is much better than getting chased for an hour straight like I have in the previous games I've played you lol. I like that we ended on a cliffhanger and we're getting a chapter 2. I can't wait to see what happens in the next game. Keep up the good work.

The story had me hooked from the start.  I seriously can’t wait for Chapter Two.  Amazing work!

(+1)

Nice game. Atmosphere was spot on.

(+1)

hi, this isn't you i think.. right ? DONT STOP RED WOOD by Dont Fear

Thanks so much for letting me know. Unfortunately, this happens all too often, and it’s exhausting dealing with attention‑seekers. I’ll report their page to have it taken down. Thanks again!

Yo dev!

Loving the PS1 vibes and creepy atmosphere — this game’s got real potential!

Just wanted to report a bug: I was using cinema mode from the start, but when the chase scene happened, the camera got stuck and didn’t follow the player — I couldn’t see where to run and kept getting caught 😭

Also, after I clicked Exit, there’s no Load Game option — had to start all over again. Super sad, cuz the game is really cool.

Hope you can patch this soon! 🙏

Amazing game really looking forward to the next chapter!

Great game overall i loved the lore KEEP IT COMING !!

I had fun playing your game and theres going to more!!!!!!!! That awesome, really excited to see how the legend plays out. Found a small bug, after getting pushed out of the house if you go back to the car and grab any items like the idea or newspaper, it stops you from being hurt.

Hey Plastic Fangs!
Thanks a ton for playing another one of my games and for all the insightful commentary during your gameplay. I’m already working on updates based on your feedback. I truly appreciate it—it was an amazing video! Thanks so much!

(+1)

I HOPE SARAH IS WELL 😭

(+1)

This game was incredible and i love the fact that you can switch between first person and 3rd perspective. That is awesome.

The story is very intriguing, tho, i feel like some cutscenes was a little bit extensive, i feel like game could be much more solid without some long scenes and slow talks, like the game did.

also, theres one part at the game that i choose the wrong direction and the game allows me to go back into the beggining, witch was frustrating cause the game allowed me to walk all the way down to the road, and didnt actually tells the right direction to move... but thats ok, i just walk the entire map and continues the game.

i made an video with much love and attention, on my native language and i hope u guys enjoyed it.

heres a walkthrough narrated about it

SO COOL

I really enjoyed this game and I can't wait for the full game to come out!! Very well done.

Hey Angrier! Thanks for playing and recording another one of my games! I’m really happy you enjoyed it! In the next update, I’ll include you in the Special Thanks as well. Thanks for the comment!

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that :)  Keep up the incredible work

(+1)

For being early access, this was not too shabby at all! Some graphical bugs I experienced throughout the game especially LOD type issues from long distances but apart from that, very good story indeed! Made a video on it.

Hey Fearagen! Thanks for playing and recording it! I’m really glad you enjoyed it! And thank you so much for letting me know about the bug.
